Predata
Enhancing predictive intelligence
Lead Product Designer
Predata is a predictive analytics company that uses AI and machine learning to analyze online activity and provide insights into geopolitical risk, market trends, and security threats.
As the sole designer on the project, my goal was to improve the usability and accessibility of Predata’s platform, ensuring that analysts and decision-makers could efficiently navigate and interpret complex data insights.
TL;DR
Predata was acquired by FiscalNote in 2022
The challenge
Predata’s platform provided deep analytical insights, but users—primarily analysts and risk management professionals—found it challenging to navigate and extract meaningful information efficiently.
The interface was dense with data visualizations and lacked intuitive workflows, leading to usability concerns.
Designs prior to my time

Research and discovery
To understand user pain points, I conducted:
I conducted stakeholder interviews with data analysts and intelligence professionals to uncover their key needs
I conducted a usability testing on the existing interface to identify the challenges and friction points
I researched competitor platforms to benchmark against other predictive analytics tools.
Key findings:
Users wanted a simplified dashboard with customizable views and clear navigation patterns
There was a need for better data visualization to make trends easier to interpret
Analysts wanted clear workflows to interpret and export reports efficiently
The solution
Design a customizable dashboard that allowed analysts to focus on the most relevant data
Enhance visualizations to make complex trends easier to digest and present at a glance
Streamline workflows for faster data export and reporting
Design process
Information architecture & wireframing
I restructured the navigation to group related functionalities logically, reducing cognitive load
I created wireframes focusing on a modular dashboard, allowing users to prioritize key insights

Prototyping & testing
I created interactive prototypes to test and review usability improvements
I gathered feedback from real users, refining designs based on insights.
I introduced progressive disclosure to reduce visual clutter while keeping advanced features accessible
Visual Design Enhancements
I redesigned data visualizations to be more intuitive, with clear labeling, appropriate padding, and color coding
I improved typography and spacing for better readability

Impact & Results
30% increase in user efficiency, as measured by task completion times in usability tests.
Higher engagement, with more users actively customizing their dashboards.
Positive stakeholder feedback, highlighting improved clarity and ease of use.
